I left off on my search after arriving at LAX. Had a lovely time in LA and Palm Springs. Weather was a bit chilly but nice nonetheless.
I was fortunate enough to spend a lovely afternoon in Venice Beach which has really changed over the years. It is so hokey now. It used to have cute little shops and restaurants. Now, all you see, pot shops and junk stores and head shops to sell the accoutrements for the pot shops. Not the Venice Beach I remember however, the ocean was beautiful. The air was so clear and the breeze was lovely! I loved being there. Had a nice lunch and a great walk on the beach and all in all, a lovely day. However, airport/trench coat man, a non starter. I was ever hopeful but it was not to be. I actually was having a bit of a stalker moment whilst there. Someone I wanted to meet has a flat there but he was nowhere to be seen. Serves me right for trying to be a stalker. Guess I don’t have what it takes!
Next stop was Palm Springs. Palm Springs also has changed over the years. Again, the nice little shops have gone the way of chains and junk stores for tourists. That is a real pity as this was such a cool place. The weather is still nice, the scenery is fabulous and the company was good. So, no complaints there. However, once again, trench coat man did not appear. Maybe if I batted for the same team I might have found trench coat woman!!!
So, we move on to LAX on my way to Seattle. I did have a bit of time there and so I wandered around people watching. Finally saw a guy who was interesting but not really my type as he was a biker – but a cute one. How do I know this one might ask. Well, I think the Harley tee shirt, the tattoos and the biker boots might have been a give away. A well off one as well, as he was in first class on my flight. Anyhow, I suppose that is another story. Off to Seattle I go. Landed at Seatac and looked around as my nephew was not quite there and saw nobody looking remotely like Airport man. I am beginning to think he might be a figment of my imagination. So, off to a lovely weekend in Seattle.
Monday morning 8am I am back in Seatac and looking around at the male population. Certainly nobody at my gate was a possibility. Now, unbeknownst to me, I have a stop at Dulles airport in Washington, DC. Not at all expected and certainly could be a good omen. An airport on the east coast in a city that has some really important dudes. So. land at Dulles. Apparently my new gate is miles away and all the time I have there is spent running to the new gate. That was unfortunate as I had not time to check out the men in the airport. I was very sad! Got to my gate, got on the plane and to my dismay, I am sitting next to an engaged couple who had not seen each other in a while and could not keep their hands off each other. I mean seriously, its a plane!! Get a room!
That brought me home to Orlando and for all the airports, in all the cities, there was no Meg Ryan moment. You know the one, Sleepless in Seattle, Tom Hanks at the airport seeing off the horrid girlfriend and Meg Ryan comes thought the gate and he has a seminal moment and follows her. Yeah, great scene. Not mine!!!
So, the search continues for the man who will always be Airport man to me but might end up being Trench coat man! Keep you posted!
