The Search Continues

Well yesterday was my last day in Portland so I was in an airport on my way to the next stop LAX.  Portland had some fine weather yesterday – lots of snow and rain and even a little sunshine.  I know I am digressing but the day was so amazing that I just have to tell you about it

I woke up at 7am and there we lightish snow flurries.  They fell on and off for a couple of hours and then the sun came out.  I have to say, not for long.  The rains came and it was chilly and well, wet.

We went to lunch in a cute little Mexican place near Jake’s house.  After lunch we went into Portland proper and on to our destination, the Pittock Mansion.  It is an old mansion, 1914 I believe, and in the most unreal setting.  High up on a bluff overlooking the city, it is truly gorgeous up there  Again, I jump ahead of myself.  We now are in a real snowfall.  Snow is sticking all over the ground, the trees are heavy with snow and the roads are slick.  Up the hills we go to the mansion and we get there and the chain is across the driveway .  The mansion is closed.  I guess they did not want lots of snow on their beautiful floors.  Anyway, we, as others were doing, decided to walk up the driveway.  Now, I live in Florida, a state not known for its mountainous terrain.  I am, however, a walker, so I assume with all the confidence in the world, that this will be fine.

So, off we go up the hill.  This is a one mile walk in snow upwards.  I don’t want to be a spoil sport and say I can’t finish the journey, so, I walk on.  Hands freezing, feet, in boots, freezing and my legs screaming for mercy!  I have to say, when we got to the top, it was totally worth the aching legs!!!  It is so beautiful up there.  It was truly magical .  The kids (and even the adult kids) threw snowballs and ran around and had fun.  I, with no gloves and already freezing hands, had no desire to toss a snowball,  However, that did not prevent me from being hit by one!  All good fun.  We spent a half an hour or so wandering around the grounds and then the walk down the hill.  It was snowy and slushy with some ice.  The leg muscles were holding on for dear life but it was a lovely walk down and a lovely afternoon as well.

Lovely interlude in the Search story but must get back to the search!

So, after riding though some weather changes on the way to the airport, I arrived at Portland airport.  Hugs and kisses goodbye and off I went to meet airport man,  Guess what?!  He was not there!   I wandered around a little looking for my tall dark and handsome man in a trench coat.  No luck.  He did not appear to be in this airport.!  I got on the plane, again, totally full, and looked around and he was also not on the plane

Two hours later, we arrived in LA and I glanced around but he did not appear in the 10 seconds I was in the airport.  I believe the search will have to be on hold until I am back in LAX for a longer period of time.

For right now, I will concentrate on meeting airport man (who might turn into trench coat man) in the streets of LA.  Will that happen?  Stay tuned!
